Still on my Mind is a meme created by YA-Aholic. Every Thursday, she will blog, and link to other blogs, about books that are still on her mind. Just write about a book that you can't get out of your head, whether you read it a few years ago or a few weeks ago. A book that you just have to share with others.

My choice this week is Anew by Chelsea Fine.

Here is the synopsis:
Two years ago, Scarlet awoke in the
forest alone, afraid, and unable to remember anything. Lost and confused, her
life was a mystery...until she met a boy with a familiar voice.

Gabriel
Archer has a voice from her past, and Scarlet's determined to remember why. She
immerses herself in his life only to discover he has a brother he's kept hidden
from her: Tristan Archer.

Upon meeting Tristan, Scarlet's world becomes
even more muddled. While she's instinctively drawn to Gabriel, she's impossibly
drawn to Tristan--and confused out of her mind. As she tries to piece together
her history Scarlet realizes her past...might just be the death of
her.

I really loved this book and cannot stop thinking about it. Luckily, it is the first in a series, and the second book, Awry, comes out next month! I can't wait! See my review of Anew:
Anew (The Archers of Avalon, #1)Anew by Chelsea Fine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved, loved, loved Anew! I hate having to wait for the next one to come out! I want to know what happens now! A very unique idea for a book and it totally works! Gabriel is sweet and all, but I really want to learn more about Tristan and what his story is... When does the next one come out??? Great job Chelsea!

If you have been to my blog before, you will know that I am a fan of Raine Thomas as a writer and as a person. She is one of my favorite indie authors and I look to her for advice and support. I am a big fan!
That being said, you can imagine how excited I was when she asked for people to host her blog tour for Defy... I jumped at the chance! Then I realized that although I got to read Defy early, I had to wait to say anything about the book until the release, and even longer to post my review, since my stop on the tour is towards the end... Torture!
Well, the day is finally here, so here is my review of Defy... Okay, I may be a few hours early, but who's counting???
Defy (Firstborn, #1)Defy by Raine Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it! I think it took me two days to read Defy, but that is only because I had to work, tend to my children, eat, and sleep! I have read Raine's first series and eagerly awaited this trilogy to become available. I was lucky enough to get to read an arc, since I signed up to be a part of her blog tour... it killed me to have to wait almost two months to say anything about it!
Tate is a very endearing and relatable character, and Zachariah is my favorite kind of character. Strong, brooding, and manly. I loved their story and their chemistry.
I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that one of the things I loved the most was that I knew the characters from the first books. It felt like meeting up with old friends. I love that Raine kept the same feel of the first books, while still making the story fresh.
I also love that she shocked me at one point. I usually figure out what is going to happen next throughout a story, but I was taken by surprise this time and I really enjoyed it!
I also really want to learn more about Tiege! I don't know if he is going to get his own story or not, but I hope so!!!
Another home run for Raine Thomas!

Oppression (Children of the Gods, #1)Oppression by Jessica Therrien
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I bought oppression at the Southern California Writers Conference and it was promptly stolen by my teenage daughters. They absolutely loved it and kept it until I took it back two days ago. That's how long it took me to read... two weeks! I love it! It is a unique and engaging story. Elyse and William are sweet and they make you want to root for them. Oppression is a quick read. I really wanted to know what happened, but didn't want it to end. Great job Jessica .. bring on number two.

Hello! It has been a while since I have posted... it has been a really busy couple of months. With work, four kids in the house, and writing, time tends to go by pretty quickly. I am actually on my way to San Antonio for two weeks tomorrow. Hopefully, once I return, things will slow down a bit!

In the beginning of April,
my husband and I went on vacation to Costa Rica. We were there for four nights,
and it was wonderful! Everything I hoped our vacation would be! We were there
celebrating our anniversary, so the hotel was nice enough to gift us with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, and had the bed covered in petals, it was very sweet! We had days of relaxation and a day of adventure. We went tubing down the rapids, zip lining, rappelling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and then finished the day with a mud bath and soak in the hot springs. We had afantastic time!

Since our return, I have been working on the 3rd book in the Stories About Melissa series, Ciao. This is a picture of who I would cast to play Giovanni, a new character that is introduced in Ciao. What do you think?

In between all of that, we have been to see the Red Carpet at The Avengers Premiere, an Advanced Screening of The Lucky One, and we got to do a test ride on The Transformers 3D ride, which will be opening in May at Universal Studios Hollywood. I love living in L.A.! Once I return from San Antonio, I will complete Ciao and focus on the ms for an unrelated YA novel. I will be at the Orange County Children's Book Festival on Sept 30th, stop by if you are  in town!

BloomBloom by Julie Anne Lindsey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed Bloom. Julie Anne Lindsey really brought me back to the books that made me love to read. I love stories about small towns and redemption. Mitchell is so sexy and Cynthia is a character full of secrets. It was a fast and enjoyable read... I loved it! (Will the next one be about Carter???)

Intimate StrangersIntimate Strangers by Laura Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nicholas and Hannah's story is HOT! Right from the beginning you feel the chemistry between these two and Nicholas is everything you want in a leading man... mysterious, sexy, and 100% man! I really enjoyed this novel. I have been so immersed in YA lately, it was nice to settle in with an adult romance. I was lucky enough to meet Ms. Laura Taylor, and I have to say she is as lovely as she is talented!

Because of Low (Sea Breeze, #2)Because of Low by Abbi Glines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so happy that we got to read Marcus's story. We fell in love with him in Breathe and were hoping that he would find his love. The books I enjoy the most make me laugh and make me cry, and Because of Low made me feel a bevy of emotions. Another success by Abbi Glines!

I just wanted to let you all know that I am leaving for vacation tonight and will return next weekend. I didn't want you to think I disappeared when you do not see any Twitter, Goodreads, or Facebook activity from me for the next five days.
My husband and I are taking a much needed vacation! We are celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary at Villa Sol All-inclusive Resort in Costa Rica. I am literally jumping up and down in anticipation... I am so excited. We have never been, so I will be taking tons of pictures and will post them on Facebook when I return. I have a Kindle full of books, so I will get some reading in on the flights and post reviews upon my return.
Not to worry, our kids are all enjoying their own vacations for Spring Break. They each get their own: Jamie in Louisiana, Jacinda in Las Vegas, Diego in Pennsylvania, and Katie here in sunny California. I am sure we will all return happy and refreshed!
I also wanted to thank you all for your continued support of Ta Ta for Now! and xoxoxo. I will resume work on my current WIPs upon my return. I plan to spend this week with a drink in my hand, a day at the Spa, and some ziplining through the rain forest!
Enjoy your week!
Bethany

Behold the beautiful cover
of Raine Thomas's new novel, Defy.

To hold you over until the release of Defy, on April 30th, Raine has been kind enough to share this tantalizing blurb:

"Seventeen-year-old Tate is about to make her parents’ dreams come true. Unfortunately for her, their dreams foretell her death.

Eager to explore more of the Estilorian plane and prove her abilities, Tate goes against her parents’ wishes and leaves the area of protection surrounding her home. Her choice puts her on a deadly path…one that leaves her alone, severely injured and battling for her life.

Her possible savior arrives in the form of Zachariah, a male who has removed himself from Estilorian society for more than fifty years. Fighting an unexpected connection to Tate, he must decide whether saving her life is worth destroying his.

As Tate struggles to find a way home, she ends up drawn into a dark
Mercesti plot involving multiple murders and a powerful ancient
artifact. With the unpredictable Zachariah as her only source for aid, she’ll soon find out if her abilities are strong enough to help      her defy her Fate."
